Frequently Asked Questions

    • Don’t arrive with an empty stomach. Have a light snack before your appointment to avoid fainting.

    • Wear something light and loose like shorts and a tank top for easy access to treatment areas.

  • It depends on which areas are being treated. You will be covered by a sheet throughout the appointment but it is recommended that you arrive in loose and comfortable clothing like shorts and a tank for easy access to treatment areas.

  • Not at all, this is one of the biggest misconceptions about acupuncture. The needles are very fine and flexible and would compare to that of a human hair. Acupuncture needles are virtually painless when inserted in the skin. Most people find acupuncture extremely relaxing and fall asleep during treatment.

  • There is always a chance when working with pain that it can get temporarily worse before it improves. We assess this by seeing how you respond to your first acupuncture treatment and adjust your treatment accordingly to minimize the chance of discomfort.

  • This is assessed on an individual basis and depends on whether the injury or pain is acute or chronic. Acute/recent injuries respond quickly to treatment. Chronic injuries that have been ongoing for some time will take longer to fix the underlying issue.

  • Your first visit is approximately 75 minutes and this includes initial intake, discussion, orthopaedic assessment (if required), building of a treatment plan and then the actual treatment.

Subsequent or follow up treatments are 60 minutes, including needling and any additional modalities like Cupping, GuaSha, or E-stimulation.

  • Depending on your individual situation treatment could be recommended once per week or biweekly. My goal is to get you out of pain and back to doing what you love as quickly as possible.
